O Come, O Come Emmanuel another great acoustic

About the Hymn

The Advent/Christmas favorite O Come, O Come Emmanuel was originally written in Latin in the 12th Century. The author of the words and composer of the music are both unknown. It is thought that the melody was of French origin and added to the text several hundred years after its writing. In 185, the Latin was translated into English by John Mason Neale . The text is based on the prophecy of Isaiah 7:14 that states that God will give Israel a sign that will be called Immanuel (Lit.: God with us). Matthew 1:23 proclaims the fulfillment of this prophecy in the birth of Jesus.
