“I Will Rise” an Easter Anthem

I Will Rise from Martin Luther College on Vimeo.

Wow!

I can’t even fully express right now how exited I am to share this choir anthem. What excites me is not just the beautiful Christ centered lyrics of the anthem that the Martin Luther College Choir has sung and shared. What excites me also is that this particular anthem was sung and shared by them. It is awesome to see the college I attended singing and sharing a great modern anthem in such a God glorifying manner.

What an excellent example they have set for how to use the piano, solo voice, small group and mass choir magnificently in a modern worship setting. How cool is it that the song that they choose to sing and share this Easter is written by a modern contemporary Christian artist Chris Tomlin. A wonderful way to make use of all of God’s best gifts.

I am one blessed beggar, both edified and encouraged as I am able to sit here and listen to the story of my Savior shared in a way such as this. Thank you Martin Luther College. Keep bringing the good news to the poor.

Jesus has overcome and the grave is overwhelmed.

The victory is won. He is risen from the dead.

Chris Tomlin Talks about the Story Behind the Song

Lyrics: I Will Rise

There’s a peace I’ve come to know though my heart and flesh may fail.
There’s an anchor for my soul. I can say, “It is well.”
Jesus has overcome and the grave is overwhelmed.
The victory is won. He is risen from the dead.

[Chorus:] And I will rise when He calls my name, no more sorrow, no more pain.
I will rise on eagles’ wings before my God, fall on my knees, and rise.
I will rise.

I will rise.

And I hear the voice of many angels sing, “Worthy is the Lamb!”
And I hear the cry of every longing heart, “Worthy is the Lamb!”

[x2] [Chorus:] And I will rise when He calls my name, no more sorrow, no more pain.
I will rise on eagles’ wings before my God, fall on my knees, and rise.
I will rise.
